Born and raised in Santa Barbara, Rubi began her career in early education before joining the nonprofit sector. A San Francisco State University graduate with a B.A. in Sociology and minor in criminal justice, she worked as an instructional assistant and tutor in both the Carpinteria Unified School District and San Francisco Unified School District.  Rubi began her nonprofit career at St. Vincent’s Santa Barbara, an organization serving low income families, single mothers, and seniors with housing and child care resources. She continued to grow her commitment to the Santa Barbara community as a Programs team member at the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara where she assisted in connecting local college bound students to financial aid resources. A 2018 Emerging Leader Program (ELP) alum, Rubi has a deep appreciation for her personal and professional growth that ELP inspired and honed in on and looks forward to being a part of communal development and growth at large.

In addition to being part of the LFW team, Rubi also dedicates herself to raising three young children and becoming well versed in providing a proper homeschool education.
