This kickoff gathering will introduce our upcoming workshop series, designed with North County leaders in mind, and offer a chance to reconnect with fellow alumni, build new relationships, and learn more about what’s ahead.
While this gathering is especially focused on alumni of Leading From Within and Leadership Santa Maria Valley, we warmly welcome others interested in learning more about our leadership programs and connecting with this growing community of leaders.
Managing Through Performance Challenges

What do you do when a staff member has the potential to succeed but isn’t meeting expectations?
Managing performance challenges can be one of the toughest parts of leadership. In this practical, interactive workshop, participants will learn how to identify what may be getting in the way and how to create a productive path forward.
This workshop is designed for current supervisors and managers, as well as those preparing to step into a supervisory role.
You’ll explore strategies to:
- Diagnose whether the challenge involves skill, behavior, motivation, mindset, or unclear expectations.
- Give feedback that addresses both behavior and underlying issues.
- Have clear, courageous conversations that build accountability while preserving trust.
- Create a path forward that gives employees a genuine opportunity to succeed.
Bring a real challenge. Participants are encouraged to bring a current performance situation and apply the workshop tools directly to their own leadership experience.
Facilitated by Christa Roth, an executive coach, trainer, and nonprofit leadership expert with more than 25 years of experience. Christa brings a practical, grounded approach to helping leaders strengthen staff management, organizational alignment, and leadership capacity.
