Melissa, who also goes by Lima, was born in Los Angeles, but grew up in New England and raised by her Guatemalan immigrant parents. Lima received her B.A. from LeTourneau University and her M.A. in Higher Education and Student Development from Taylor University where she wrote her thesis focusing on Latinx students. With seven years total in higher education, Lima has been able to integrate her passions of inclusion, diversity, and advocacy into her work. Lima is passionate about engagement in the community and arts, which has allowed her to serve as a board member of the Santa Barbara Dance Institute. You can catch Lima all around Santa Barbara by either producing Don’t Tell Comedy shows, performing at storytelling events, on the salsa dance floor or writing at the local coffee shop.
