The Courage to Lead Retreat Series Application Process

Who Should Apply?

Courage to Lead was created to nurture and develop executive leaders and decision makers in nonprofit and other social sector organizations. The program is ideal for Executive Directors/CEO’s. We also welcome applications from people in other positions of broad executive leadership in nonprofits, such as leaders who deal with a high degree of relational complexity (i.e. engaging with staff, board, donors, partners, peer leaders, etc.), and from people who are on a clear track to executive leadership.

We may receive more applications than the 28 spaces we have for our 2017-18 retreat series.  Our primary selection objective is to cultivate a a generative and mutually supportive learning community of social sector leaders who can relate to each other as peers.  We also look for candidates who will add to many facets of diversity in the cohort (including organizational mission, ethnicity, gender, economic background, life experience, and geography).   If we cannot accept your application this year, we will return your deposit and (if asked) will try to find you alternative approach to meeting your needs.  And you are welcome to apply again for a future cohort.

A $200 deposit, payable to Leading From Within, is required to complete your application for this retreat series. You will be prompted to submit your deposit online after submitting your application.  If you are not accepted into the 2017-18 cohort, we will promptly return your deposit.

Cost, Payment and Scholarships: The cost of this year-long retreat series (including lodging in a single room, meals and all program costs) is $4,900. However we know that many organizations cannot afford the cost of a residential program like Courage to Lead.  Thanks to our generous funding partners, scholarship funds are available to make the program financially accessible to most all social sector leaders who would value it and who are accepted.
